Freight and Passenger Rail

Description

The majority of the world’s freight is transported by rail. Keeping this critical mode of our nation’s transportation infrastructure running efficiently requires forward thinking and practical solutions—both of which are specialties with the researchers with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s (TTI) Rail Research Group. An example of their research is the futuristic Universal Freight Shuttle, a revolutionary cargo movement concept developed by Assistant Agency Director Steve Roop.

The Rail Research Group is also actively involved in ways to expand and enhance the passenger rail system to make it a viable option for commuters and travelers.
